Whether designing community-based classes, summer internship programs, professional practice curriculum for working adults, or a standard 14-week undergraduate college course, we center student experiences and providing clear, engaging curriculum. We specialize in helping advance crucial capacity-building and communications efforts in the nonprofit sector. Work completed by Obvio Group staff includes:

  • Redesigning out-of-date curriculum for a fully-remote, writing-intensive grants class offered by the College of Continuing and Professional Studies at the University of Minnesota—Twin Cities. Curriculum was reimagined and streamlined to use real-life examples of grants and the Minnesota Common Grants Form as the basis for a mock grant proposal. An out-of-date and expensive text book was replaced with real-life examples of grant proposals. Professional practice materials incorporated into the class includes cover letters, professional emails, project management, group dynamics, and clear written communication.

  • Building new online curriculum regarding the importance of Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access in philanthropic and nonprofit spaces.

  • Designing and administering summer internship programs where art students were paid to live and study in rural communities and complete projects for the public good while in the field.

  • Instructional design work for virtual capacity building curriculum for rural LGBTQ+ organizations jointly developed by PFund Foundation and the Nonprofit Center at La Salle University.

  • Development of multi-media curricular assets such as videos, podcasts, quizzes, and interactive Articulate lessons.

  • Kate maintains an active teaching practice as an adjunct professor at the University of Minnesota—Twin Cities. She is constantly working to improve curriculum based on real-time student feedback and devising solutions for effective virtual classroom management and instruction.

Obvio Group has extensive experience being both instructors and students in online learning environments. These multiple perspectives inform our work of creating engaging content for students while staying mindful of the mechanics of assessment and accreditation. We specialize in the use of digital classroom tools and remote teaching practices, with experience with Google Suite, Canvas, Articulate 360, Squarespace, Kaltura, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, iMovie, Turnitin, Zoom, and Garage Band.
